The Children’s Hospital of Richmond (CHoR) at VCU is currently seeking an established and funded investigator to be the Chief of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine and to lead a division of eight faculty. We seek a motivated clinician-teacher interested in developing junior faculty and steering the continued growth of a dynamic pediatric intensive care unit in an academic setting.  The candidate will be offered a full-time faculty appointment at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the strategic planning and day-to-day outcomes of the division
  • Inpatient management of children admitted to the 20-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit
  • Provide a mix of: direct clinical care; clinical administrative and QA/QI activities
  • Close cooperation with other services including the pediatric Level 1 Trauma Center, ECMO center, surgical services, and nursing staff
  • Will work weekends and take call as necessary
  • Didactic and bedside teaching for students, residents and fellows
  • Mentorship and career development for members of the division
  • Participate in clinical, transitional, and outcomes research

Qualifications:

  • Board certified or board eligible in Pediatric Intensive Care
  • Experience with clinical care of patients ages birth to 21 years
  • Experience with education of housestaff, medical students
  • Well-developed scholarly/research portfolio
