The Children’s Hospital of Richmond and the School of Medicine at VirginiaCommonwealth University are committed to transforming the Children’s HospitalFoundation Heart Center into a model academic unit devoted to excellence in clinicalcare, teaching, and research. This is in conjunction with recently renovated state-of-the art rotational pediatric biplane cardiac catheterization laboratory, hybrid suite, NICU,PICU and OB-GYN units. Our state-of-the-art outpatient on-campus facility opened inMarch 2016. Our new children’s freestanding inpatient facility is projected to becompleted in 2022. We are seeking an outstanding BC/BE pediatric cardiologist withadvanced echocardiography training experience at the assistant or associate professorlevel to fill a non-tenure eligible position as the Director of the echocardiographylaboratory. Candidates with experience in fetal echocardiography, functional and threedimensional echocardiography and high research productivity are highly desired.

The pediatric echocardiography laboratory was the first triple accredited (ICAEL: TTE,TEE and fetal) pediatric echocardiography laboratory in Central Virginia. Theechocardiography laboratory is fully equipped, digital, and has an active teleechocardiography service from outlying sites. Virginia Commonwealth University has aregional perinatal center with an integrated Maternal Fetal Medicine program and activefetal echocardiography program with a growing referral base. The Children’s HospitalFoundation Heart Center is a rapidly growing clinical enterprise with a busy, multifaceted cardiac imaging service (echocardiography, cardiac MRI and CT, PET imaging).Candidates should possess outstanding clinical and teaching skills. Candidates areexpected to participate in the educational endeavors of the Division that supports activefellowship programs in Pediatric and Adult Cardiology. Candidates should be eager tojoin in a major dynamic effort to create a superior academic pediatric cardiology division,in a collegial atmosphere and in a wonderful mid-Atlantic city, large enough to supportall the best of a major urban setting, and small enough to be friendly and communal.Successful candidates will have demonstrated experience working in and fostering adiverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a facultymember at VCU.
