Sickle Cell Disease Physician Scientist - F65440

The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of General Medicine, Virginia Commonwealth University seeks a junior or mid-career physician scientist to join a leading multidisciplinary program in translational, clinical, and implementation science in sickle cell disease.

The program has attracted >$5 million in federal, foundation, and industry funding in the past 5 years, and includes transplantation and gene therapy. Incumbent will collaborate with and be mentored by 2 physicians, 3 Nurse Practitioners, and a complete staff of allied health professionals in the Adult Sickle Cell Medical Home, as well as 3 Physicians, a Physician’s assistant, and a staff of allied health professionals in the Pediatric Sickle Cell Program. Additional collaborators with a focus on SCD are in the schools of Nursing, Pharmacy, Engineering, and the Department of Psychology. Incumbent will be hired at the rank of Assistant Professor, with 70% protected time for research. Qualifications: Required?BC/BE in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. Demonstrated research and clinical training in hematology/oncology (fellowship or equivalent). Commitment to a career in sickle cell research. Experience working with diverse and disenfranchised communities.
