Pediatric Cardiologist/Director of Echocardiography - F62790

The Children's Hospital of Richmond and the School of Medicine at VirginiaCommonwealth University are committed to transforming the Children's Hospital Foundation Heart Center into a model academic unit devoted to excellence in clinical care, teaching, and research. This is in conjunction with recently renovated state-of-the art rotational pediatric biplane cardiac catheterization laboratory, hybrid suite, NICU, PICU and OB-GYN units. Our state-of-the-art outpatient on-campus facility opened in March 2016. Our new children's freestanding inpatient facility is projected to be completed in 2022.

We are seeking an outstanding BC/BE pediatric cardiologist with advanced echocardiography training experience at the assistant or associate professor level to fill a non-tenure eligible position as the Director of the echocardiography laboratory. Candidates with experience in fetal echocardiography, functional and threedimensional echocardiography and high research productivity are highly desired.

The pediatric echocardiography laboratory was the first triple accredited (ICAEL: TTE, TEE and fetal) pediatric echocardiography laboratory in Central Virginia. The echocardiography laboratory is fully equipped, digital, and has an active teleechocardiography service from outlying sites. Virginia Commonwealth University has a regional perinatal center with an integrated Maternal Fetal Medicine program and active fetal echocardiography program with a growing referral base. The Children's Hospital Foundation Heart Center is a rapidly growing clinical enterprise with a busy, multifaceted cardiac imaging service (echocardiography, cardiac MRI and CT, PET imaging).

Candidates should possess outstanding clinical and teaching skills. Candidates are expected to participate in the educational endeavors of the Division that supports active fellowship programs in Pediatric and Adult Cardiology. Candidates should be eager to join in a major dynamic effort to create a superior academic pediatric cardiology division, in a collegial atmosphere and in a wonderful mid-Atlantic city, large enough to support all the best of a major urban setting, and small enough to be friendly and communal.

Successful candidates will have demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
