The Virginia Treatment Center for Children (VTCC) is the pediatric division of VCU Medical Center's Department of Psychiatry, and one element of the comprehensive array of services offered by Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU. The Department of Psychiatry is seeking a Psychiatrist specialized in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

VTCC has a three-part mission: Clinical care - providing inpatient and outpatient treatment for children and adolescents, with a wide array of behavioral health issues, and their families; Research - creating better ways to prevent and treat mental illnesses; Teaching - training tomorrow's mental health professionals-including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, psychiatric nurses, counselors.

VTCC operates a 26 bed licensed inpatient acute service, outpatient services, the Commonwealth Institute for Child and Family Studies and the Children's Mental Health Resource Center. In Fall 2017, VTCC will be re-locating to a new facility with licensed beds expanding to 32 and outpatient space tripling its volume capacity (7,000 to 21,000 visits annually).


- MD/DO Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist with interest working in public psychiatry; Licensed or eligible for license to practice in Virginia

- Demonstrated experience working within an interdisciplinary team to serve children and adolescents on an inpatient/CL/outpatient basis. Population includes disabilities, autism spectrum and mental health

- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse community team, faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.

- Rotational call for inpatient services/CL and admissions

Preferred Qualifications:

- Familiarity with or in Virginia's public psychiatry setting

- Experience in telepsychiatry

- Experience in teaching medical students, residents and fellows

- Training and demonstrated experience in substance use disorders or other co-occurring disorders
