Mission or Goal of Unit: The Virginia Commonwealth University Health System programs in Rheumatology and in Allergy and Immunology are among the oldest clinical programs in the USA. This unit comprises a combined division with Allergy/Immunology and Rheumatology sections working towards the goal of improving outcomes for patients with autoimmune, musculoskeletal, allergic, mast cell, eosinophil and primary immune deficiency disorders through clinical care, research, and public service, including philanthropy.

Chief Purpose of this position: The Division of Rheumatology, Allergy and Immunology at Virginia Commonwealth University is seeking a full-time Adult Allergy and Immunology Physician to participate in clinical, teaching and research activities. The incumbent will advance the patient care, research and teaching missions of Allergy and Immunology through direct patient care in the hospital/clinic and training of residents, medical students and other trainees in support of the mission of the division.

Position Responsibilities:

Clinical | Provide excellent patient care in Adult Allergy and Immunology and focused areas of interest and experience in outpatient settings. Actively participate in management of patients on Adult AI consult service.

Teaching | Provide supervision of residents, fellows, and other learners in the environment.

Research | Support departmental research studies and is encouraged to develop new areas of investigation and to apply for funding to support innovative areas of research.

Service | Serve on departmental, health system and university committees as necessary and/or assigned by Division Chair to support clinical, research or educational mission.

Other | Comply promptly with billing, documentation, credentialing and other administrative requirements of the department.

Required Qualifications:

  • Board certified in Allergy, Immunology and Internal Medicine
  • Demonstrated both scholarly and clinical abilities through patient care, teaching and clinical research
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
