Mission or Goal of Unit: VCU's Department of Pediatrics is committed to training and developing the next generation of dedicated pediatricians, caring for each child as if they were our own and advancing the specialty and its myriad subspecialties through innovative research. Our central hub is at the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU in downtown Richmond, with satellite locations and community clinics all throughout Central Virginia.
Chief Purpose of this position: We are seeking a full-time board-certified or board eligible developmental and behavioral pediatrician (non tenure-eligible) to join our team. This position will support the Child Development Clinic at Children's Hospital of Richmond by providing comprehensive patient assessments that involve medical, psychological, and educational testing. The physician will diagnose patients across a range of developmental diagnoses including Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, learning differences, developmental delay, and others. They will also provide recommendations for care planning, relevant referrals, follow-up care coordination and intervention for the division’s patients.
Position Responsibilities:
- Teaching: Faculty member will have teaching responsibilities that include teaching and mentorship to medical students, resident physicians, and other trainees when applicable.
- Research: Faculty member will have working knowledge in research methods and be able to participate in clinical, translational, and outcomes research.
- Service: Faculty member will serve on departmental or School of Medicine level committees when appropriate, and engage in professional activities through journal review, conference presentations, etc.
- Clinical: Faculty member will serve as a Developmental and Behavioral physician for the Department of Pediatrics in the Division of Developmental Pediatrics in support of the clinical mission of CHoR at VCU.
- Other: Faculty member will take on administrative duties associated with this role.
Required Qualifications:
- Board certified/board eligible in Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics or Neurodevelopmental Disabilities
- Experience with clinical care of patients from birth to 21 years of age
- Experience in an academic medical center
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
