The department of Ophthalmology at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System is seeking a residency-trained Optometrist with experience in contact lens fitting and ocular disease. As a member of our faculty, the successful candidate will be responsible for an established clinical practice with direct patient care in two outpatient settings including our main campus and our suburban satellite location. Our department supports a 12 resident ophthalmology training program with a full 5 year ACGME Accreditation.
The successful candidate must maintain high clinical and ethical standards that will be carried into decision-making processes, adhere to compliance measures, establish and promote an atmosphere of unity through collaborative practice and effective communication between all staff disciplines, and foster a high level of patient and staff satisfaction. Residents and certified ophthalmic medical technicians assist with patient care and ancillary testing.
Required Qualifications:
- Candidate must have completed an Optometry Residency with advanced training in Contact Lens Fitting and Ocular Disease
- Must possess/maintain or be eligible for a full, unrestricted license to practice Optometry in the State of Virginia
- Must demonstrate expertise working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
