In partnership with VCU Massey Cancer Center, the Division of Hematology and Oncology offers a level of cancer experience and expertise only found at National Cancer Institute-Designated Cancer Centers. Chief Purpose of this position:

The division is seeking a Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Physician. This Pediatric Hematology/Oncology role will provide support to the division in its continuity of care for new and existing patients. The division and Children's Hospital of Richmond (CHoR) are part of the NCI-designated Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center. CHoR is one of 4 qualified hemophilia treatment centers in the state of Virginia, and one of two lifespan programs in the state. The QTC multidisciplinary team includes a dedicated APP, social worker, nursing and administrative support. Additionally, the division offers a Pediatric Hematology-Oncology fellowship with support for a fourth year.


Position Responsibilities:

  1. Teaching: Faculty member will have teaching responsibilities in the area of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology. Faculty member will provide teaching and mentorship to medical students, residents, and Fellows when applicable.
  2. Research: Faculty member will have working knowledge in basic research methods and be able to participate in clinical, translational, and outcomes research that division may play an active role in pursuing.
  3. Service: Faculty member will serve on departmental, hospital, or School of Medicine level committees when appropriate, as well as professional activities through journal review, conference presentations, etc.
  4. Clinical: Faculty Member will serve as a pediatric hematology/oncology physician. They will see pediatric hematology, oncology and transplant patients as necessary, with a focus on disorders of benign hematology for the department.

Required Qualifications:

  • Board certified or board eligible in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology
  • MD or DO degree
  • Eligible for medical license in Commonwealth of Virginia
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in an academic medical center
  • Clinical interest in coagulation and benign hematology
