Pediatric Nephrologist (F71100)

Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU Health, Richmond, VA

The Pediatric Nephrology Division of the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at Virginia Commonwealth University (CHoR) is devoted to excellence in clinical care, teaching, and clinical, translational, and basic research. We are seeking a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor (non-tenure eligible) pediatric nephrologist to join our division.

The Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU has undergone significant growth over the past 10 years. A free standing pediatric outpatient facility built in 2016 has allowed for significant outpatient growth and contains clinic space, a pediatric specific dialysis unit, outpatient procedure rooms, outpatient ORs, imaging and radiology, and faculty offices. We have now opened a new free standing Children’s Hospital April 30, 2023, devoted to providing an exclusively child-centered environment for kids and their families. Outreach clinics occur throughout the state to allow for local care of children.

The division currently has 2.9 FTE faculty members, 2 APP, 2 nurse RN educators, a social worker, a dietician, and an administrative assistant. Included in the division is the section of Pediatric Rheumatology with an additional physician and RN devoted to Rheumatology. The division has an active inpatient and outpatient presence with a busy end-stage renal disease program including dialysis and transplantation, as well as procedures including acute dialysis (PD, HD and CRRT) and renal biopsies.

Additionally, the division has an active ACGME approved fellowship program, and an active clinical research program with involvement in the Pediatric Nephrology Research Consortium (PNRC), the ASN, ASPN, IPNA and IPTA.

Applicants must be board certified in pediatrics and board certified/eligible in pediatric nephrology. A demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment, or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU, is required.
